This Video Will Remind You Just How Cool it is to be a Small Business Owner
A project called The Small Business Revolution is on the hunt for inspiring small business stories. And they found one in Chicago: The Belmont Barbershop.
This laid-back, ultra-cool barbershop serves up classic men’s cuts and shaves, with a little retro flair. From the chrome chairs to the Frankenstein portrait hung by the phone, The Belmont Barbershop is totally one-of-a-kind. Josh, the founder, dreamed of creating the kind of place where he, himself, would enjoy getting a shave. That dream is now a reality. “My favorite is when people are just talking across the room,” he says.
Josh comes across as a calm, cool, and collected business owner. But even he admits just how scary launching a business is. “It was all or nothing,” he says. “I basically threw everything that I had into this barbershop. It had to work.” Lucky for Josh, business is booming.
The personal, trusting atmosphere of Josh’s barbershop is, his customers say, one of the reasons they keep coming back. “There’s a level of connectedness to your community that you’re just not going to get from big box stores,” one patron shared.
Watch the video, and you’ll see it, too. Josh makes being a small business owner look pretty cool.
