Your Guide to Amazon Business Credit Cards

  • Amazon Business American Express Card
  • Amazon Business Prime American Express Card
  • Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card
  • Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card

Amazon Business American Express Card

First up? The baseline card, the Amazon Business American Express Card.

This credit card is available to any business owner with an Amazon account, even if it’s not an Amazon Prime account. Additionally, you do not have to be a member of Amazon Business to apply for this card either; however, if you are an Amazon Business member, you’ll have access to the enhanced data views available with the card. Plus, if you are not an Amazon Business member but apply for this card and are approved, you’ll have the option to take advantage of an expedited registration for a new Amazon Business account.

With this in mind, if you qualify for this Amazon business credit card from American Express, then you’ll gain access to rewards rates of:

  • 3% back or a 60-day repayment term on the first $120,000 in purchases each calendar year at Amazon Business, AWS, Amazon.com, and Whole Foods. After that, you’ll earn 1%.
  • 2% back on all purchases at U.S. gas stations, at U.S. restaurants, and on U.S. wireless phone services
  • 1% back on all other purchases

Additionally, when you qualify for this Amazon business credit card, an Amazon gift card of $100 will automatically be added to your card’s account. Moreover, this Amazon business credit card has no annual fee or foreign transaction fees.

On top of these benefits, the Amazon Business Card also offers:

  • Employee cards with purchase control
  • Ability to connect with QuickBooks
  • Access to the American Express Business App
  • Access to business-only pricing on Amazon products
  • Purchase protection, return protection, and extended warranty
  • Travel protection and assistance

Amazon Business Prime American Express Card

The second Amazon business credit card is the Amazon Business Prime American Express Card.

Essentially, the difference between the two Amazon small business credit cards is simple—one is for non-Prime members and the other is specifically for Prime members.

This being said, then, the Amazon Prime business credit card is only available to business owners who have an Amazon Prime or Amazon Business Prime account.

Therefore, although this card has no annual fee, it’s worth remembering that there is an annual fee for your Prime membership, at least $119 per year, that you’ll want to consider.

On the whole, the Amazon Prime business credit card offers the same baseline perks as its non-Prime counterpart. The only reward differences between the two cards are the following:

  • You’ll earn 5% back (or a 90-day repayment term) on your first $120,000 in Amazon purchases each calendar year, then 1% back thereafter—instead of the 3% rewards returns that the non-Prime Amazon business credit card offers.
  • You’ll get a $125 Amazon gift card automatically added to your account (as opposed to $100) as soon as you qualify for the Amazon Business Prime card.

Of course, since you’ll need to be a Prime member to access this card, you’ll also receive the benefits of Prime, some of which include:

  • Free delivery options
  • Video and music streaming
  • Early access to deals and Prime-exclusive picks
  • Access to eBooks through Prime Reading

Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card

As we mentioned, in addition to the two Amazon business credit cards, there are also two Amazon consumer card options. Although these cards are not specifically designed for small businesses, it’s still worth discussing what these cards have to offer.

Like the two business cards, these two Amazon consumer cards are largely differentiated based on Prime vs. non-Prime. This being said, then, the first option is the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature Card.

With this card you’ll earn:

  • 3% back at Amazon.com and Whole Foods
  • 2% back at restaurants, gas stations, and drugstores
  • 1% back on all other purchases

There is no cap on the rewards you can earn and you can redeem your rewards for items on Amazon—using them to pay for all or part of an Amazon purchase.

Additionally, this card has no annual fee, no foreign transaction fees, and once you’re approved, you’ll automatically receive a $50 Amazon gift card. Moreover, like the Amazon business credit cards, the Rewards Visa card also includes perks like travel protection and assistance, purchase protection, extended warranty protection, and more.

Ultimately, then, the main difference between the Rewards Visa and the Amazon business credit card is that the Rewards Visa, as you might imagine, is missing some of the business-specific perks, such as the option for extended repayment terms, cash back on Amazon Business purchases, employee cards, etc.

Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature Card

The second consumer Amazon credit card, the Amazon Prime Rewards Visa, like the Amazon Prime Business credit card is only available to Prime members. It’s also worth mentioning that whereas the Amazon small business credit cards are issued by American Express, their consumer cards are issued by Chase.

With the Prime Rewards Visa, you’ll earn the exact same rewards as the Rewards Visa, except you’ll have the opportunity to earn 5% back on Amazon.com and Whole Foods, instead of just 3%. Additionally, once you’re approved for this card, you’ll automatically receive a $70 gift card as opposed to a $50 one.

Moreover, just like the Amazon Prime business credit card, it’s important to remember that although this card has no annual fee, you will have to maintain your Prime membership, which at a minimum, will cost $119 annually. However, just like the Prime Business card, you’ll also receive all of the perks that come with being a Prime member.

Is an Amazon Business Credit Card Right for You?

Get an Amazon Business Credit Card If:

So, now that we’ve discussed everything the Amazon business credit cards have to offer, should you get one? Here are some reasons why you would opt for one of these cards:

  • You spend frequently with Amazon and want to access Amazon-specific rewards.
  • You want a simple rewards structure.
  • You don’t want to pay an annual fee or foreign transaction fees.
  • You want to redeem your rewards with Amazon.

Skip These Amazon Business Credit Cards If:

On the other hand, there are also a number of reasons why you might consider other options, instead of an Amazon business credit card:

  • You’d prefer access to general rewards points or cash back.
  • You’d like a travel-specific card to access travel rewards.
  • You don’t do much spending on Amazon.
  • You’re looking for a business credit card with a 0% intro APR period.
  • You need a business credit card for bad credit.

Choosing the Right Amazon Business Credit Card for You

At the end of the day, only you can decide which credit card is right for your business.

This being said, however, it seems that as an Amazon small business credit card, these options are well-suited for business owners who are positive that they do most of their spending on Amazon and will be able to take advantage of the Amazon-specific business credit card rewards. In this case, you might choose to opt for the Amazon Prime Business card over the regular Business card—although the Prime card requires paying an annual membership fee, it seems that the additional credit card and membership benefits can easily make up for this cost.

With this in mind, if you do decide that an Amazon business credit card is the best option for your business, you might also consider one of the consumer cards if you’re ever looking for a personal credit card. However, there’s really no advantage to choosing the personal Amazon card for your business. After all, Amazon business credit cards are first and foremost designed for business owners.

On the other hand, as we listed above, there are many reasons why you might continue to explore your business credit card options. Ultimately, if you won’t be taking advantage of the Amazon-specific rewards, there’s likely another credit card out there that will be a better fit for your business.
