Quick Guide
Delta frequent flyers taking their first steps towards upgrading their travel should seriously consider the AMEX Delta Gold business credit card. The Delta Gold for Business will come with a $0 introductory annual fee (then $99 after your first year) and a welcome offer of up to 70,000 bonus miles after you meet the spending threshold, making it an ideal first step into becoming a Delta VIP.
American Express Delta Gold Business Card Rewards: Welcome Offer
The Delta SkyMiles Gold will make business travel more rewarding—for a limited time, you can earn 70,000 bonus miles and a $50 statement credit after spending $2,000 the first 3 months. Additionally, take $100 off your next Delta flight – after you spend $10,000 in purchases on your Card in a calendar year, you will earn a $100 Delta Flight Credit to use toward future travel.
American Express Delta Gold Business Card Rewards: Ongoing Offer
For every dollar you spend on Delta purchases, you’ll earn 2 miles (and on every dollar spent on eligible U.S. purchases for advertising in select media, on every dollar spent on eligible U.S. shipping purchases, and on every eligible dollar spent on dining at restaurants). When you spend with this American Express business credit card elsewhere, you’ll earn 1 mile for every other dollar you spend with the card.
As a cardholder, you’ll automatically gain access to priority boarding on Delta flights and free checked bags, among many other travel perks.
Check out the details below for more information on the travel advantages you’ll have as an American Express Delta Gold Business cardholder.
American Express Delta Gold Business Card Annual Fee
Though the American Express Delta Gold Business card comes with an annual fee, it will be free for your first year.
The default annual fee for this card is $99, but AMEX waives the first annual fee as a welcome offer.
Get the American Express Delta Gold Business Card if:
- Delta is your airline of choice and you want to upgrade your travel.
- You do a lot of your business spending abroad and want to dodge foreign transaction fees.
Skip the American Express Delta Gold Business Card if:
- You don’t want to pay an annual fee for your business credit card.
- You do most of your traveling with an airline—or airlines—other than Delta.
Pay With Miles
Pay With Miles is a benefit that SkyMiles members with Delta business credit cards can take advantage of to save money on flights.
Once you collect enough miles, you can redeem them for discounts on Delta airfare—sometimes those discounts are so big that your flights are free. SkyMiles reward value usually comes in at $100 for every 10,000 points redeemed.
If you’re constantly using the American Express Delta Gold Business card, you’ll eventually rack up enough miles to really benefit from the Pay With Miles feature.
First Checked Bag Free
If you’re traveling for a long time for your business, carrying-on might not be an option. And dishing out a bag fee each way to check your bags isn’t ideal.
Well, as a American Express Delta Gold Business card member, you’ll have your first checked bag free for Delta flights. That’s around $60 in savings for your business’s roundtrip flights.
Priority Boarding
When you own a American Express Delta Gold Business card, you don’t have to wait in long boarding lines.
You can take advantage of priority boarding in Zone 1 and settle in faster on Delta flights as a card member.
20% In-Flight Savings
When you use your card to make purchases on Delta in-flight purchases—think food, beverages, media upgrades, etc.—you get a 20% discount.
That 20% savings on every flight will come back to you in the form of a statement credit after your travels.
No Foreign Transaction Fees
A lot of credit card issuers ding you with a foreign transaction fee of around 3% when you swipe your card overseas.
But with the American Express Delta Gold Business card, there’s no foreign transaction fee. So if you’re traveling Delta overseas, the Gold Delta SkyMiles is just that much better.
For Delta Loyalists Only
Well, for one, this business credit card is only for absolute Delta loyalists.
The 2x bonus rewards on flight purchases come your way only when you make Delta purchases—so if you mix up the airlines you travel with, this business credit card won’t make a ton of sense for you.
You might want to consider a general travel rewards business credit card, like the Chase Ink Business Preferred instead.
Annual Fee
One other downside you should note is the American Express Delta Gold Business card’s annual fee of $99.
The fee is waived for the first year of card membership, though. And when you think about what you’ll be saving on travel expenses by using the American Express Delta Gold Business card, the annual fee is pretty worth it. Say you take 2 roundtrip flights in one year and check bags—that’s $120 of savings right in those 2 trips.
When it comes down to it, if you’re ready to maximize your rewards on the American Express Delta Gold Business card, then you shouldn’t worry about the annual fee.
